Lost every key to your car — or bought one that came with none? Take a breath: you do not need a tow to the dealership. As a mobile auto locksmith, I can make and program a brand-new key to your car right where it sits, even when there's no working key to copy.
You don't need a tow to the dealer
The old advice was to tow the car in and wait — that's expensive and slow. I bring the dealer-grade equipment to you anywhere across Sarasota and about 30 miles around, so the whole job happens in your driveway, an office parking lot, or wherever you're stranded.
How an all-keys-lost job works
With no key to copy, I build one from scratch:
- I read your VIN and look up the key code for your vehicle.
- I cut a new key to that code — including high-security laser keys.
- I program it to your car's immobilizer (and, for push-to-start cars, pair the proximity smart key) so it actually starts.
Here's more on the by-code process: car key replacement by VIN.
What I'll need from you
Because I'm making a key from nothing, I'll ask for proof of ownership — your registration or title plus a photo ID. It protects you as much as me. After that, just give me your year, make, model and where the car is.
How long it takes — and the cost
Most all-keys-lost jobs are done in about 30–60 minutes on-site once I arrive, depending on the make and key type. It's almost always less than the dealer, and I'll give you a firm price up front. While I'm there, I'd recommend cutting a spare — it's a fraction of the cost of going through this again.
