Opening the truck and reading the lock

I used Lishi to read the lock and recover the key code needed to cut the replacements. The lock components were initially sticking. After I applied WD-40, they moved freely enough for me to complete the reading. There were no other complications during the job.

With the truck open and the key information recovered, I could move on to making the new keys. There was no original key available to duplicate, so restoring that information from the lock was an essential part of the work.

Cutting and programming two replacement keys

I cut and programmed a standard transponder key and a remote flip key for the customer. The standard key provided a straightforward spare for starting the truck. The flip key added the convenience of a folding blade and buttons to lock and unlock the doors.

I also programmed the flip key’s remote control. This was a separate part of the job from getting the keys to start the engine: the customer needed the remote buttons to operate the door locks as well.

Testing before handing over the keys

I checked the completed keys and remote functions before finishing:

  • The standard transponder key started the engine.
  • The flip key started the engine.
  • The flip key’s Lock and Unlock buttons operated the door locks.

Everything worked correctly, and the customer was happy with the result. The truck was accessible again, with a remote key for everyday use and a separate spare.
