For this 2012 Ford Focus job, the original keys were lost. I needed to recover the information required to make replacements, cut the new blades, and complete programming. The finished set included a standard key and a flip key with remote Lock and Unlock buttons.

Recovering the key information from the lock

With the keys missing, I used a Lishi tool to read the lock. That gave me the information needed to recover the key's cutting code and produce the replacement blades.

In this job, “cutting by code” refers to making the blade from the recovered cutting information. The source was the vehicle's lock. The lost original key was not available as a physical copy to trace.

Cutting and programming the replacements

Once I had recovered the cutting information, I cut the new keys and completed the programming work. The service covered the full replacement process described in this case:

  • Programming the replacement keys to the Ford Focus.

A standard key and a remote flip key

I made two keys for this vehicle. One was a standard key with a fixed blade. The other was a flip key with a folding blade and Lock/Unlock buttons for remote door control.
